Deigma System for Nautical Electric Propulsion

Providing technical solutions, knowledge and support to professionals and boat owners aiming at adopting electric propulsion

DEIGMA THE SYSTEM

The Deigma System consists of a set of technical components, which are all interconnected in order to achieve the ideal employment of the available energy – the result is a scalable set, which can be configurable on demand and is able to adapt in plug and play mode to most sailing boat models in use.

The heart of the System

DEIGMA ELECTRIC MOTORS

The main component of the System is highly efficient and reliable. It is produced by Deigma, one of the Cima1915 group’ companies, a group that has over 100 years of experience in the production of electric motors and over 40 years of activity in the nautical world.

Electric Propulsion Motor

The Deigma system offers a wide range of highly efficient motors with peak power from 3.5 to 27 kw, with air or liquid cooling – all supplied motors are equipped with a specific waterproof housing
.
.

Electronic Control Unit

It is the main control component of the system, allowing the optimization of engine power delivery by interfacing with the battery management system to minimize energy waste and, during charging, to minimize the imbalance between the battery cells and their heating

Primary Battery Pack

High performance lithium battery.
Faster balancing speed, quick recharge, remote control and reporting of malfunctions to prevent critical problems
.
.

Throttle for Speed Control

It is the main user interface of the system and it is used to control the power delivered to the engine

Dashboard Display

Through a 4-inch screen you can have real-time information on the status of the system:
• Battery level
• Time range calculated on current consumption
• Number of engine RPM
• Engine temperature
• Power reduction to reach limit temperatures
• Required power level measured as a percentage

Battery Charger

This element, which communicates directly with the electronic control unit, makes it possible to optimize the charging phase of the battery by calibrating the balance between the cells and controlling any temperature variations
.
.
.

Low Voltage Auxiliary System for Services

The great majority of the accessories installed in the boats work to the voltage of 12-24v, therefore it becomes necessary to create a small plant dedicated to the services.
The service plant consists of:
• Voltage converter
• Sealed battery AGM
• Battery Balancer for multiple batteries
• Battery charger

Solar Panels

These elements help to maintain the charge of the primary batteries.
They are useful when the boat is moored for long periods

Cooling System Control

For boats equipped with an engine cooling system, it is possible to request the installation of a contact inside the electrical box that is managed directly by the controller.
By detecting the temperature of the engine, the controller manages the operation of the pump and keeps the engine at its ideal temperature
.
.
.

OPTIMIZED CONNECTIONS

The main electronic components are interfaced through a single support of CANbus communication, a digital protocol that is based on messages and not on the individual nodes that make up the system, this allows to achieve reduced weight and costs, ease of installation and a higher level of security thanks to an integrated error handling process.

In addition, the CANbus protocol allows new electronic devices to be added and integrated without specific programming, ensuring maximum flexibility and configurability to the Deigma System.

The New-born Deigma Barca Zero is a lab created to develop electric propulsion

BARCA ZERO

Deigma, the Barca Zero, the 10meter- electric propulsion boat of Cima1915 Group, has been launched.

Barca Zero represents a key concept for Deigma project, in fact, its value and meaning stretch far beyond launching a boat. It is actually a complete system for testing and measuring the performance in water of the latest generation Deigma electric motors, the battery pack, the control components, the elements for power generation.

On Barca Zero Deigma concentrates the whole experience gained by the CIMA1915 group present for over forty years in the nautical sector, during which it has equipped over 500,000 boats with advanced, reliable, safe and long-lasting solutions.

The right balance

PROMOTING THE 48 VOLT STANDARD

At the moment Barca Zero is equipped with the air-cooled Deigma Air 8,5-48 2000, 48 volt and 7.0 KW to the propeller (15.5 KW peak). Equally, all the servomotors work at this voltage, which is proving to be the ideal solution for boating since it can offer great advantages.

In fact, voltage and amperage are inversely correlated quantities. With the same power (Watts), the lower the voltage (12 or 24 volts), the higher the amperage required. Hence, the need to adopt separate circuits, with wires of larger cross-section, also taking into account the voltage drops due to the considerable distances existing on a boat between the generator/battery and the various engines.

The most recent trends concern the adoption of a higher voltage, unique and specific for boating, which also ensures increased efficiency.

Seeking perfection

FLOATING LABORATORY

Barca Zero offers Deigma the opportunity for an authentic test bench in the water. In fact it is already designed to accommodate and test the whole Deigma set: different regimes of motor rotation and power, they employ air/liquid cooling and can be supplied with or without reduction gear.
